Alghero Municipality requests extension for Special Protection Zone expansion

The Municipality of Alghero has requested an extension from the Sardinia Region regarding the proposed expansion of the Special Protection Zone (ZPS) ‘Costa ed Entroterra di Bosa, Suni e Montresta’. The proposal affects a significant portion of the municipal territory.

Urban Planning and Participation Councilor Roberto Corbia stated that while the municipality supports biodiversity protection, the current consultation period—which largely coincides with summer months—has not allowed for adequate community participation. The municipality is requesting that the deadline for submitting observations be moved from September 15 to October 15.

In addition to the extension, Alghero is calling for the involvement of Porto Conte Park and the organization of public meetings to allow the community to better understand the environmental, urban, and socio-economic impacts of the proposal. The request has been formally submitted to the Regional Councilor for Environmental Defense, Rosanna Laconi.
