Alghero officials propose expanded defibrillator network

Local officials in Alghero are pushing for an expanded network of automated external defibrillators (DAE) to enhance public safety in high-traffic areas. City councilors Christian Mulas, Alberto Bamonti, and Gianni Martinelli have submitted a motion urging the Mayor and the City Council to implement the “Alghero cardioprotetta – Spiagge e sport in sicurezza” project. The initiative aims to create a widespread network of devices across beaches and sports facilities to ensure rapid intervention during cardiac emergencies.

Currently, a public defibrillator has been operational for approximately one year in the San Giovanni beach area at via Lido 73. Unlike devices located within private residences or sports clubs with restricted hours, this specific unit is accessible to the public 24 hours a day. The installation was made possible through contributions from local merchants and is officially registered in the regional database to ensure coordination with emergency responders.
