Italian municipal efforts to expand defibrillator networks
Overview
In Alghero, local officials have proposed the “Alghero cardioprotetta – Spiagge e sport in sicurezza” project. This initiative, submitted by councilors Christian Mulas, Alberto Bamonti, and Gianni Martinelli, seeks to expand the network of automated external defibrillators (DAE) across beaches and sports facilities to facilitate rapid intervention during cardiac emergencies.
Currently, one public unit has been operational for approximately one year at the San Giovanni beach area on via Lido 73. This device is accessible to the public 24 hours a day, distinguishing it from units located in private residences or sports clubs with restricted hours. The installation was supported by local merchants and is registered in the regional database to coordinate with emergency responders.
