Alghero to gain oversight in proposed Sardinia park reform

A proposed regional law in Sardinia aims to reorganize the governance of all regional parks, with specific provisions for the Porto Conte Park in Alghero. As the only single-municipality regional park, Alghero is expected to receive unique derogations and specific regulations.

Under the proposal, fundamental acts of the Park Authority, such as the Park Plan, would require the mandatory opinion and vote of the Alghero City Council. Strategic decisions would remain subject to the city's representative assembly. Additionally, the City Council would be responsible for identifying the executive committee, with the statute allowing for the definition of its composition and the balance between majority and opposition forces.

The reform seeks to ensure that decision-making centers remain connected to local democratic institutions while potentially strengthening the Region's financial role and improving collaboration with FoReSTAS and the Metropolitan City of Sassari.
