Algiers International Airport ranks fifth in Africa for passenger reservations

Algiers International Airport has ranked fifth among African airports in terms of flight reservations for August 2026. According to data from aviation analysis firm OAG, approximately 680,000 passengers are expected to transit through the airport, representing a 7.2% increase compared to the same period last year.

Nationally, Algerian airports are expected to handle roughly 1.2 million passengers in August, with Algiers accounting for more than half of the total volume. This growth follows efforts by Air Algérie to modernize its fleet and expand international destinations, positioning the country as a transit hub between North Africa and global markets.

On a continental scale, Cairo International Airport leads with 1.85 million expected passengers, followed by Addis Ababa Bole International Airport with 1.25 million and Johannesburg OR Tambo with 1.15 million. Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport holds the fourth position.
