Algerian aviation and tourism growth

Algiers is experiencing significant growth in aviation traffic and tourism demand. In August 2026, Algiers International Airport ranked fifth in Africa for passenger reservations, with approximately 680,000 passengers expected, marking a 7.2% increase from the previous year.

This growth in transit volume coincides with Algiers becoming the top summer 2026 travel destination for French travelers. Data from July and August indicates a 4% increase in interest for the Algerian capital compared to the prior year, alongside surges in specific flight routes such as Marseille-Annaba and Toulouse-Oran.

By early September 2026, data from Bourse des Vols confirmed that Alger has emerged as the most searched flight destination from France for the summer season. This trend reflects a broader preference among French travelers for Maghreb destinations, with Marrakech and Tunis also seeing significant search increases.

Specific route growth remains high, notably with a 78% increase for Toulouse to Oran and a 291% increase for Marseille to Annaba. To address these travel demands, ASL Airlines France has extended its student discount program, offering a 10% reduction on flights between Algeria and France, which includes two checked bags and one free reservation modification.
