Ali Amin Gandapur calls for release of Imran Khan’s sisters

Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has expressed serious concern regarding the deteriorating health of Noreen Niazi, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. Following reports of her illness, Niazi was transferred from Kot Lakhpat Jail to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology for medical treatment.

Gandapur has demanded the immediate release of all three of Imran Khan’s sisters, describing Niazi as innocent and emphasizing the need for her to receive the best possible medical care. Legal counsel for the family, Rana Mudassir Omar, reported that the 70-year-old Niazi was moved to a private room at the cardiology institute for blood tests, while also alleging that she is being held unlawfully and that family members were not notified of her hospital transfer.

Separately, internal developments within the PTI regarding the selection of a new Chief Minister for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have emerged. Reports suggest a divide within the party, with over 30 assembly members lobbying for Ali Amin Gandapur to be reappointed, while other leaders favor candidates from the Buner or Hazara regions. PTI spokesperson Shaukat Yousafzai denied rumors of factionalism, stating that the party has not yet reached a final decision and that any selection will be made through mutual consultation.
