Ali Zafar condemns body-shaming of Katrina Kaif
Pakistani actor and singer Ali Zafar has publicly criticized the body-shaming directed at Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif following her post-pregnancy appearance. In a video shared on social media, Zafar addressed the online scrutiny regarding Kaif’s weight gain, urging men to question the unrealistic beauty standards they impose on women.
Zafar noted that he has witnessed similar trolling directed at Pakistani colleagues, such as Mahira Khan, for years. He argued that modern expectations for a ‘zero figure’ for women and ‘six-pack abs’ for men are unhealthy and unrealistic. While acknowledging that he had previously commented on others' appearances, Zafar stated he no longer considers such behavior acceptable and encouraged compassion and kindness.
Kaif, who starred alongside Zafar in the 2011 film ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’, has recently faced social media remarks after being seen in public with her husband, actor Vicky Kaushal. Mental health professionals have noted that such commentary on South Asian female celebrities often reinforces harmful beauty standards for the general public.
