Social media trolling of Katrina Kaif

Overview

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has faced ongoing social media criticism regarding her physical appearance and weight gain following the birth of her son, Vihaan Kaushal, in November 2025. The scrutiny intensified after public appearances, including a recent attendance at the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. In response to the trolling, Kaif stated that her priorities have shifted toward overall well-being and health, noting that motherhood has changed her perspective. She highlighted a focus on a healthy diet, meditation, and maintaining a morning routine away from digital devices to support her confidence, rather than adhering to traditional beauty standards. Industry figures have rallied in her defense. Following support from Shivaleeka Oberoi, Sonarika Bhadoria, and Ramya, actor Hrithik Roshan also showed solidarity. On September 17, 2026, Pakistani actor Ali Zafar urged men to question unrealistic beauty standards. On September 20, 2026, Salman Khan expressed indignation on ‘Bigg Boss 20’, describing the mockery as shameful and emphasizing that post-pregnancy physical transformations are natural. The controversy has sparked a regional debate across India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. In Pakistan, actor Hania Aamir joined the conversation by challenging beauty standards shaped by the male gaze, while in Bangladesh, actress Pori Moni shared her own experiences with postpartum scrutiny to support the movement. On September 21, 2026, Pakistani commentator and RJ Dr Ejaz Waris issued a public apology to Kaif via Instagram. On September 23, 2026, actor Parineeti Chopra condemned the trolling, describing such comments as ‘absolutely illiterate’ and ‘uneducated.’ Chopra defended Kaif and questioned the double standards regarding physical changes, expressing admiration for stretch marks as a sign of childbirth. She also noted a disparity in how female actors are scrutinized compared to their male counterparts. On October 8, 2026, Kaif addressed the impact of social media narratives at a Kay Beauty event in London.
