Aliansi Masyarakat Pati Bersatu protests in Jakarta over corruption laws

Members of the Aliansi Masyarakat Pati Bersatu (AMPB) held a demonstration in front of the Indonesian Parliament complex in Jakarta on Thursday, August 27, 2026. The group presented two primary demands: urging the DPR and the government to immediately pass the Asset Forfeiture Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset) and to implement the heaviest possible punishments for corruptors.

Following the protest, the group returned to Pati, Central Java, on Friday, August 28, 2026. AMPB leader Supriyono, also known as Botok, reported that the journey from Pati to Jakarta and back was marked by significant tension, including instances of intimidation and intervention. Botok remained in Jakarta to coordinate the safe departure of all participants via bus before returning to his hometown.
