Alianza por Venezuela coalition demands presidential elections with Maria Corina Machado

Nine political and social organizations in Venezuela have launched a new coalition called Alianza por Venezuela (Ave). The group aims to defend national sovereignty and restore constitutional order.

The coalition is demanding the establishment of a clear electoral calendar for presidential elections that are free, fair, and verifiable. A central demand of the alliance is the nomination of Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Corina Machado as their presidential candidate. To facilitate this, the group is calling for the immediate lifting of arbitrary political disqualifications that currently prevent her from running.

Additional demands from the Alianza por Venezuela include the appointment of an impartial National Electoral Council (CNE) and the opening of the electoral registry to the Venezuelan diaspora. The coalition also called for the unconditional release of all political prisoners, both civilian and military, and an end to political harassment and torture.

Noel Álvarez, spokesperson for the group and former president of Fedecámaras, stated that the alliance is a strategic articulation intended to go beyond immediate electoral cycles and focus on the long-term reinstitutionalization of the country.
