Alibaba Cloud opens first public cloud region in the Netherlands
Alibaba Cloud, the cloud and AI division of Alibaba Group, has launched its first public cloud region in the Netherlands. The new infrastructure, located in Amsterdam, consists of two data centers that are now operational.
This expansion marks Alibaba Cloud’s fourth European region, adding to its existing presence in Frankfurt, London, and Paris. The move is intended to meet rising demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence services across Europe while providing local data residency, reduced latency, and improved disaster recovery capabilities for regional businesses.
The Amsterdam region offers a suite of services including elastic computing, storage, container technologies, networking, big data applications, and security solutions. Alibaba Cloud also announced plans to introduce agentic AI services to assist enterprises, such as the ACS Agent Sandbox for hardware-level security isolation and the Agent Security Center to protect AI agent operations.
