Aena airports report rising passenger traffic through September
Aena's network of Spanish airports continues to show significant passenger growth through September 2026. The group reported 31.67 million passengers in September, a 4.2% increase compared to the previous year. However, the company faces rising operational costs, which have impacted its EBITDA margin, which fell from 56.4% to 54.5% in the first half of the year.
Regional performance varies across the country. Alicante-Elche reported over 16.8 million passengers year-to-date, a 10.1% increase. Reus Airport is on track for its second-best year ever, while A Coruña reached a record 1.079 million passengers through September. Valencia also saw growth, surpassing 9.7 million passengers.
In the Balearic Islands, Palma de Mallorca saw a 2% increase in passengers, while Ibiza recorded a 2.9% rise, though Ibiza experienced a slight decrease in total aircraft movements in September. Meanwhile, Reus Airport announced plans to introduce five new routes for the 2027 season, including connections to Amsterdam, Bournemouth, Poznan, and Katowice.
