Alicante homicide investigation: LGTBIQ+ group alleges homophobic attack

An investigation is underway following the death of a 27-year-old man at San Juan Beach in Alicante on August 14. The LGTBIQ+ association 'Alicante Entiende' has alleged that the killing was a homophobic attack, claiming the victim was targeted after attempting to interact with another man.

According to sources close to the case, a 22-year-old suspect allegedly kicked the victim in the head, causing him to strike his head against tracks. While the association is demanding that hate crime motivations be fully investigated, police reports indicate that no evidence of a hate crime has been found so far, and no hate crime charges have been filed.

The suspect was recently brought before a judge and released under precautionary measures, which include the surrender of his passport, a prohibition from leaving the country, and the requirement to appear periodically before the court. He remains under investigation for the crime of homicide.
