Alidu Seidu joins OGC Nice on loan from Stade Rennais

Ghanaian international defender Alidu Seidu has joined OGC Nice on a season-long loan from Stade Rennais. The move was facilitated through the Ligue 1 ‘joker’ rule, which allows clubs to sign players outside the standard transfer window to address emergency situations.

Nice sought defensive reinforcement following injuries to Antoine Mendy and Moïse Bombito. The 26-year-old Seidu, who has earned 25 caps for Ghana and participated in two World Cups, offers versatility as he can play at centre-back, right-back, or as a right wing-back.

Nice sporting director Roger Ricourt praised Seidu’s temperament and experience, noting his ability to integrate quickly due to his proficiency in French. For Seidu, the move provides an opportunity to secure regular playing time after falling out of the rotation at Rennes.
