Aliko Dangote pursues global investment expansion in Canada and Tanzania

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, is engaging in high-level discussions to expand the conglomerate's international investment footprint.

In Canada, Dangote met with Prime Minister Mark Carney to discuss investment partnerships and Canada’s Africa Strategy. The discussions focused on how African investors, including the Dangote Group, might contribute to Canadian economic growth and two-way trade flows. This meeting marks a shift in traditional development finance patterns, as discussions centered on outbound African capital into Canada. This occurs alongside the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals filing for a potential $5 billion IPO in Nigeria.

Simultaneously, the Tanzanian government is seeking to attract further investment from the Dangote Group in fertilizer production, energy, and industrial infrastructure. Following a meeting between President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Aliko Dangote, a Tanzanian delegation visited the company's refinery in Lagos to advance discussions. The Dangote Group already maintains a significant presence in Tanzania through an $800 million cement manufacturing plant.
