Zurich Diamond League sees two new world records
The Diamond League meeting in Zurich witnessed a historic evening with two new world records set in less than 40 minutes.
Brazilian athlete Alison dos Santos established a new world record in the men’s 400m hurdles, clocking 45.80 seconds. This performance surpassed the previous record of 45.94 seconds set by Norway’s Karsten Warholm in 2021. Dos Santos finished nearly a second ahead of Warholm, who took second place with 46.69 seconds.
Shortly after, American athlete Masai Russell set a new world record in the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 12.09 seconds, breaking the previous mark held by Tobi Amusan.
Other notable performances at the event included Audrey Werro setting a Diamond League record in the 800m with a time of 1:53.70.
