Spanish towns roll out major water and sewage upgrades

The municipality of Castellar has begun the second phase of a sewer‑network renewal on Avenida de las Adelfas, closing traffic between Calle Cádiz and Los Nardos and providing detours for residents, commercial vehicles and market traders.

In La Espina, a €299,578 improvement of the water reservoir and a new treatment plant capable of processing 12 m³ per hour have been completed, delivering higher‑quality water to around 150 inhabitants of Cueva, La Vouga and El Pevidal and to the El Zarrín industrial zone.

Aljarafesa has incorporated three new wastewater‑treatment plants in Castilleja del Campo, Gerena and Isla Mayor. The projects, funded with more than €21.8 million from state and regional sources, bring the facilities up to EU standards and complete the integral water‑cycle management for the area.
