Fire Stabilized Near Embalse del Ferial in Navarra's Bardenas Reales
The forest fire that broke out on Friday afternoon near the Embalse del Ferial in the Bardenas Reales, Navarra, has been brought under control. The SEPRONA patrol of the Guardia Civil detected the blaze when a column of smoke appeared over a small stand of pine trees covering about 0.5 ha. Emergency services deployed three light‑firefighter units, two helicopters and a ground crew, achieving initial containment by 20:45 and reporting the fire under control by 22:30, though parts of the fire remained active. The provisional damage assessment estimates that 4–5 ha of pine forest have been affected. After the main attack, three fire crews continued monitoring the “stumps” to prevent re‑ignition, while authorities maintain a security device on site pending a technical inspection to determine the cause. The Guardia Civil urged the public to avoid using agricultural machinery during peak heat, keep residues away from natural areas and report any sign of smoke promptly to prevent larger incidents.
