Alūksnes municipality leader awaits confirmation on foreign drone report

Dzintars Adlers, chairman of the Alūksnes municipality council, stated that he has not yet received official confirmation regarding reports of a foreign unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) found in the region. While he is aware of reports suggesting a drone may have crashed on October 18, he noted that official information would come from the State Police or the National Armed Forces.

Adlers emphasized that border protection falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defence and the State Border Guard rather than local government. He expressed concerns regarding the security and well-being of residents living near the eastern border, stressing the need for state support to ensure the stability of these communities.
