All Elite Wrestling to permanently honor Andy “The Butcher” Williams on roster
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has announced it will permanently list the late Andy “The Butcher” Williams on its official roster page. This tribute follows the precedent set by the company for the late Brodie Lee, ensuring Williams is recognized as a forever member of the AEW family rather than being classified as an alumnus.
Williams, who was 48 years old, was a prominent figure in the promotion known for his tag team partnership with The Blade. Beyond his wrestling career, he was a musician playing rhythm guitar for the metalcore band Every Time I Die.
Reports indicate that AEW President and CEO Tony Khan had been in discussions with Williams regarding a potential backstage role prior to his passing. The decision to keep him on the active roster page is expected to allow his estate to continue selling AEW-branded merchandise. AEW commentator Excalibur paid tribute to Williams, describing him as a thoughtful and supportive individual who used his energy to encourage others in the industry.
