Allgäu cattle drives scheduled for September 2026

Traditional cattle drives, known as Viehscheid, are scheduled to take place in the Allgäu region of Germany on September 26, 2026.

In Haldenwang, the event will feature approximately 100 young cattle returning from the Alpe Berg, led by Alpmeister Josef Schweinberger and the Hartmann family. The procession is expected to arrive at the Scheidplatz near the western edge of the village around 10:00 AM. Local organizations, including the Haldenwang Fire Department and the d‘Wageggler Börwang-Haldenwang costume association, will manage catering for visitors.

Simultaneously, the Viehscheid in Haslach, part of the Oy-Mittelberg municipality, will occur at the village center near the fire station. Herders Daniel and Steffi Eberle will lead up to 100 cattle from the Haslacher Alpe. The event, starting around 11:00 AM, includes a festival tent, market stalls, and musical entertainment such as alphorn players.
