Allianz Global Investors to acquire UOB Asset Management for $615 million

Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) announced an agreement to purchase UOB Asset Management (UOBAM), the asset‑management arm of Singapore’s United Overseas Bank (UOB), for a total consideration of about S$555 million (≈ €376 million or $615 million). The deal, pending regulatory approval, is expected to close in 2027.

The acquisition will raise AllianzGI’s assets under management in the Asia‑Pacific region to more than €170 billion, adding UOBAM’s roughly S$42 billion (≈ €28 billion) of assets and giving the German firm a licensed presence in high‑growth markets such as Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, as well as strengthening its existing foothold in Singapore, Taiwan and Indonesia. A long‑term distribution agreement will grant AllianzGI access to UOB’s retail network of over eight million clients.

AllianzGI’s CEO Tobias Pross said the combination will accelerate growth in Southeast Asia, while UOB Group CEO Wee Ee Cheong highlighted the partnership’s fit with the bank’s focus on wealth advisory and distribution.
