Allianz study reveals gap in Hungarian insurance coverage

A generational study by Allianz Hungária indicates that while a vast majority of Hungarians express concern regarding their health and digital security, actual insurance uptake remains low. According to the research, 88 percent of respondents are worried about their health, yet only 23 percent hold health insurance.

Digital risks are a significant concern for 83 percent of the population, but only 4 percent possess cyber insurance. The study highlights a generational divide in both fears and coverage: older generations focus on illness and livelihood, while Generation Z is more concerned with climate change, data security, and social instability.

Insurance adoption is often tied to major life events such as purchasing a home or having children. Consequently, coverage for property is significantly higher among Baby Boomers (68 percent) compared to Generation Z (25 percent). Younger respondents also showed higher levels of self-confidence regarding their health, with 49 percent of Generation Z believing they do not need health insurance because they can manage their own well-being.
