Hungarian insurance and financial technology trends

Recent studies highlight a significant gap between risk perception and insurance adoption in Hungary. Research from Allianz Hungária indicates that while 88 percent of the population expresses concern regarding health and 83 percent regarding digital security, actual uptake for health and cyber insurance remains low at 23 percent and 4 percent, respectively.

The data reveals a generational divide, with older populations prioritizing illness and livelihood coverage, while Generation Z focuses on climate change and data security. Younger demographics also demonstrate higher self-confidence in managing their own health without insurance.

In terms of technology, an Ipsos study shows that 48 percent of Hungarians use artificial intelligence for financial or insurance-related matters, a rate higher than in Spain, Italy, and Germany. This adoption is particularly high among those aged 18-34, with 68 percent utilizing AI for tasks such as analyzing personal finances and exploring products. However, despite this technological integration, 64 percent of respondents still prefer human expertise for major financial decisions.
