Almería forest fire destroys 200 hectares of land

Emergency services have extinguished a forest fire in the municipality of Las Tres Villas, located in the province of Almería. The blaze destroyed approximately 150 hectares of scrubland and 50 hectares of woodland.

The fire necessitated preventive measures for local residents, including the confinement of eight people in the Gilma and Los Sanchos areas and the evacuation of nine residents from several nearby settlements. All evacuees were able to return to their homes roughly 22 hours after the fire began.

Infrastructure was also impacted, as the flames reached a wind farm and blocked the road connecting Las Piletas with Gilma and Los Sanchos. Additionally, the railway connection between Abla-Abrucena and Doña María-Ocaña was interrupted for two days, leading to service cancellations and itinerary changes.
