Almería Provincial Council issues first baby check in Suflí

The Provincial Council of Almería has issued its first ‘baby check’ as part of the ‘Almería 103 Strategy,’ a program designed to encourage family settlement and boost birth rates in small municipalities.

The first recipient, a child named Noa from Suflí, and her parents received a direct aid payment of 1,000 euros. Under this initiative, parents who experience a birth or adoption in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants throughout 2026 are eligible for the assistance.

Since the measure was announced in March, the Council has processed 16 grants across 11 different municipalities, including Benizalón, Chercos, Líjar, Partaloa, Paterna, Santa Fe, Alhabia, Huécija, Lucainena, and Uleila del Campo. The program aims to ensure the future development of rural towns by fostering demographic growth.
