Almere to host fifth ALLUMINOUS light art festival in 2026

The fifth edition of the ALLUMINOUS light art festival is scheduled to take place in Almere from October 9 to October 18, 2026. Centered around the Weerwater, the festival features a 5.5-kilometer route of light installations. This anniversary edition coincides with the 50th anniversary of the city of Almere and will be free to the public.

Organized by the Ondernemersvereniging Stadscentrum Almere (OVSA), the event emphasizes the intersection of creativity and technology. Notable collaborations include artist Simon Wald-Lasowski working with the theater company Suburbia, and Rutger Buiter designing an installation for the open-air theater group Vis à Vis.

A new initiative titled ‘Tech X Art X Light’ will launch as part of a three-year innovation program. This program aims to bridge the gap between the Almere Tech Campus and the arts through technological experimentation and education, involving local schools and partners such as Technasium Helen Parkhurst and ASM.
