Almuñécar invests €214,000 to repair rural roads

The Almuñécar City Council will carry out repairs and upgrades on 15 rural roads in the Río Verde, Río Seco and Río Jate areas, using a €214,206.40 investment funded by the Provincial Council of Granada. The works aim to fix damage caused by storms and heavy rain recorded between late 2025 and early 2026, improving safety, accessibility and drainage for agricultural traffic.

The tender is open, and interested companies may submit offers until 21 August 2026. Mayor Juan José Ruiz Joya said the project responds to a strong demand from residents and farmers, emphasizing that the roads are essential for daily life and agricultural productivity.

Key interventions include resurfacing, slope stabilization with retaining walls, masonry and metal‑profile barriers, as well as drainage improvements to prevent future erosion.
