Alora toddler's bathtub drowning adds to spate of child deaths in Malaga

A two‑year‑old girl died after drowning in the bathtub of her home in Alora, a municipality in Spain’s Malaga province. Her parents said the incident was accidental and took her to a health centre before she was transferred to Hospital Valle del Guadalhorce in Cártama, where she could not be saved. The Civil Guard has opened an investigation into the death.

The tragedy is the third child drowning in Malaga in less than a month, following the June death of a three‑year‑old girl in a pool in Cártama and a four‑year‑old boy who fell into water at a rural house in Periana. Officials note that five adult drownings have also been recorded in the province since June.
