Alpes 2030: Olympic organizers hold strategic meetings in Lyon

Preparations for the 2030 Winter Olympics and Paralympics are accelerating, with significant developments occurring in the French Alps and through strategic organizational meetings in Lyon.

The Alpes 2030 Organizing Committee (COJOP) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have scheduled two key press events in Lyon for September 14 and 16. These meetings follow an extraordinary general assembly and a session of the IOC Coordination Commission. Key figures, including Pierre-Olivier Beckers-Vieujant, Vincent Roberti, and IOC Executive Director Christophe Dubi, are expected to provide updates on the project's progress and the upcoming timeline.

In the Southern Alps, the 2026-2027 winter season is already being shaped by the upcoming Games. Regional stations such as Montgenèvre, Serre Chevalier Vallée, and Isola 2000 are upgrading facilities to support disciplines like freestyle skiing, snowboarding, and freeride. Infrastructure investments are also underway, including the modernization of Alpine railway lines and improved road access to support the long-term Olympic legacy.
