2030 Winter Olympics organizers appoint interim president

The organizing committee for the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps has appointed Vincent Roberti as interim president. Roberti, the current director general, takes over following the resignation of Edgar Grospiron, who stepped down due to a prolonged governance crisis and internal tensions.

To facilitate this transition, an extraordinary general assembly amended the committee's statutes to allow the director general to simultaneously hold the interim presidency. This move aims to ensure organizational stability and continuity while a permanent successor is sought.

Simultaneously, a delegation from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is conducting a three-day visit to Lyon to inspect venues for ice sports. This follows the recent relocation of ice sports events from Nice to the Lyon region. Despite the leadership turnover and previous administrative challenges, the IOC has expressed continued confidence in the project and stated that preparations remain on schedule.
