Alpes 2030 organizing committee seeks permanent leadership

The organizing committee for the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps is currently operating without a permanent president. Following the departure of Edgar Grospiron on September 10, Vincent Roberti, the Director General, has been assuming interim presidential duties following a change in the organization's statutes.

While the International Olympic Committee has noted tangible progress in preparations, the vacancy in leadership comes after a period of internal departures and governance restructuring. The committee has established its sites and master plan but lacks a permanent figurehead to provide long-term authority and decision-making stability.

Simultaneously, Solideo, the agency overseeing the delivery of Olympic works, is managing approximately forty projects ranging from sports facilities and athlete villages to decarbonized mobility infrastructure. Solideo Director General Damien Robert noted that while public consultations have been intense, the organization is facing highly constrained timelines. The goal is to move past the consultation and authorization phases by 2026 to begin major construction works, such as cable transport and Olympic villages, which require significant lead times.
