Alpine prepares upgrades after Colapinto's double retirement in Singapore
Franco Colapinto experienced a difficult weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix, failing to finish both the sprint race and the main Grand Prix due to technical failures. During the sprint, the driver reported that the car suddenly lost power, stating, “Everything turned off.” In the main race, Colapinto was forced to retire on lap 29 due to mechanical issues with his Alpine.
In response to these reliability concerns, Alpine is preparing an upgrade package for the upcoming United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin. The team is investigating the origin of the malfunctions to improve the performance and reliability of the A526. Alpine's sporting director, Steve Nielsen, emphasized the need to recover the reliability that had been a strength earlier in the season.
The technical setbacks come at a critical time for Alpine in the Constructors' Championship. The team has gone three consecutive Grands Prix without scoring points and currently trails Racing Bulls by 32 points in the battle for fifth place.
