Italy wildfires trigger widespread emergencies and evacuations

Multiple regions in Italy are facing severe wildfire emergencies driven by intense heat and dry vegetation. In the Carnia region, fires on Monte Amariana and Monte Amarianute have forced the precautionary evacuation of Pissebus, with flames reaching within 50 meters of homes. Emergency services, including helicopters and Canadairs, are working to contain the spread.

In Emilia-Romagna, nearly 220 hectares of land have been destroyed by over 220 fire events since early July. Meanwhile, in the Tuscolo area, fires have threatened residential zones in Monte Compatri, Monte Porzio Catone, and Grottaferrata, leading to the evacuation of families and livestock. Authorities are investigating the possibility of arson in the Tuscolo region.

Other active fronts include Monte Barone and Monte Cimacuta. While some areas have seen slight relief due to rainfall, the situation remains critical across various provinces, requiring continuous monitoring by the Vigili del Fuoco, Carabinieri, and Civil Protection.
