Franco Colapinto slams Alpine's poor performance after Barcelona GP practice
During the first day of free‑practice for the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, Argentine rookie Franco Colapinto posted a tenth‑place lap in the opening session but fell to 15th in the second, far off the pace of the Alpine‑run car. The driver described the day as “the worst Friday of the season,” saying the car lacked balance, speed and was “light‑years behind” the competition. Team‑mate Pierre Gasly also struggled, ending the session in 17th place. Alpine later received a positive note when the FIA reversed penalties that had previously dropped Gasly from a Monaco podium, reinstating his result.
The Barcelona event, scheduled for June 13‑14, follows a previous Grand Prix in Monaco and forms part of the 2026 Formula 1 calendar.
