Alsace hospitals begin receiving state‑ordered air‑conditioners

In late June, French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced a national programme to purchase 30,000 air‑conditioners for hospitals, allocating €100 million to help the health system cope with increasingly severe heatwaves. In the Alsace region, the University Hospitals of Strasbourg ordered 1,000 units under the plan. By 20 July, 789 of those units had been received, joining the 260 already in use and bringing the total from 34 two years ago to a much larger fleet. The equipment will be installed gradually, prioritising wards and areas most vulnerable to extreme temperatures. Similar acquisitions are under way at hospitals in Colmar and Mulhouse, expanding the mobile‑air‑conditioner fleet that previously consisted of only a handful of units.
