Alsfeld emergency services conduct large-scale accident simulation

More than 150 emergency responders participated in a large-scale traffic accident simulation in the Alsfeld area of the Vogelsbergkreis district. Organized by paramedic Mathis Kruse, the exercise was designed to challenge the coordination between fire departments, emergency medical services, and the German Red Cross (DRK) district associations.

The scenario involved a simulated mass casualty incident (MANV 30) with up to 30 injured persons, including multiple individuals trapped in vehicles. To ensure realism, damaged cars and trucks were placed on a road between Reibertenrod and Schwabenrod, and actors were used to portray victims.

Participating units included the Alsfeld Fire Department, the Ulrichstein and Lautertal fire departments, Rettungsdienst Mittelhessen, and DRK units from Alsfeld and Lauterbach, as well as the Bergwacht Schotten. Medical leadership and various disaster control units were also present to practice patient triage and the use of hydraulic rescue equipment.
