Emergency services disaster drills in Germany

Overview

Emergency services in Germany conducted large-scale disaster preparedness and accident simulations in the Hesse region.

In Frankfurt, approximately 370 responders participated in the ‘Frankopia’ exercise. This drill simulated a complex scenario involving a drone attack on freight traffic near Hanauer Landstraße and the Hafenbahn railway works, including a simulated ‘second hit’ to test coordination between the fire department, the Technical Relief Agency (THW), and medical services. A civil protection delegation from Ukraine attended the proceedings.

In the Vogelsbergkreis district, more than 150 responders participated in a mass casualty simulation near Alsfeld. The exercise focused on a simulated traffic accident involving up to 30 injured persons to practice patient triage and coordination between fire departments, emergency medical services, and the German Red Cross.
