Alta Banka Bitola faces potential sale with six interested buyers
Trajko Slaveski, Governor of the National Bank of North Macedonia, announced that six potential investors have expressed interest in purchasing Alta Banka AD Bitola. Slaveski stated that meetings have already been held with two domestic banks, noting that finding a buyer is the most realistic scenario to protect citizens' savings.
The bank is considered stable with significant regional potential, particularly in agriculture and industry. The sale requires approval from the Deposit Insurance Agency of Serbia, which acts as the bankruptcy administrator for the majority owner, Alta Banka Beograd. The National Bank of North Macedonia placed Alta Banka Bitola under administrative management on November 1, following the revocation of the operating license for its parent company, Alta Banka a.d. Beograd, by the National Bank of Serbia on October 30.
To assist clients, the central bank has introduced measures including new service counters in Tetovo and Strumica, increased payment card limits, and provisions for the full payout of salaries, pensions, and social transfers.
