Argentina and Chile launch winter break tourism events ahead of school holidays

In Alta Gracia, Argentina, officials are promoting a series of events to attract visitors before the July school recess. From June 5‑7 the city will host the 60th National Precision Classic and 10th National Precision Sports parachuting championships at the local aeroclub, drawing civilian and military athletes from across the country. A week later, June 12‑14, the 22nd Semana del Che will celebrate the legacy of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara with talks, cultural activities and the 12th edition of the classic‑car rally “Por las Rutas del Che”. Organisers hope the events will boost tourism during the winter vacation period.

Meanwhile, municipalities across the Limarí Province in Chile are finalising programmes to draw families during the winter school break. The regional tourism authority highlights observatories, national parks such as Bosque Fray Jorge and Valle del Encanto, and natural monuments like Pichasca as key attractions. Activities include family‑focused tours and archaeo‑astronomy talks at the Observatorio Cruz del Sur, as well as cultural events in Ovalle and promotional visits to local wineries and historic sites. Authorities expect a modest “mini‑high season” that will generate employment and income for transport, hospitality and related services.
