Altopiano dei Sette Comuni hit by severe storm and wind damage

A violent storm swept through the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni in Italy during the night of August 19-20, causing extensive damage across several municipalities including Asiago, Foza, Gallio, Enego, and Roana.

The storm, characterized by intense wind gusts and heavy precipitation, uprooted hundreds of trees and damaged infrastructure. In Foza, the wind tore roofs off several homes, while in the hamlet of Stoccareddo, the roof of a cemetery was destroyed. In Enego, numerous trees were uprooted, blocking minor roads. In Asiago, a large tree fell onto a parked bus near the bus station.

Emergency services, including the Vigili del Fuoco, responded to approximately 25 calls in the Vicenza area to secure downed power lines, telephone wires, and unstable trees. The storm also caused widespread power outages due to branches falling on electrical lines. Local authorities, including the Mayor of Foza, coordinated safety operations to manage the aftermath of the event.
