Altroconsumo test reveals quality of ground coffee brands

A consumer test conducted by Altroconsumo on 15 varieties of ground coffee for moka pots indicates that higher prices do not necessarily guarantee superior quality. The evaluation included laboratory analysis of raw materials and contaminants, packaging assessments, and blind taste tests.

Among the products tested, Gimoka Aroma Classico and Esselunga Macinato per moka Classico performed well relative to their cost. In contrast, Segafredo Crema Ricca received the lowest score despite a mid-range price point. The results suggest that budget-friendly options can compete effectively with premium brands like Illy in terms of overall quality.
