Izmir traffic halted as police rescue trapped duck
Izmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi Zabıta Traffic Unit stopped vehicles on Cevdet Bilsay Street in the Karşıyaka district after officers spotted a green‑head female duck that had fallen onto the road. The traffic was briefly halted while the bird was carefully captured and taken to the municipality’s veterinary clinic for a health check. Veterinarians confirmed the duck was unharmed and able to fly. After the examination, the animal was handed over to the İzmir Doğa Koruma ve Milli Parklar Directorate for release back into its natural habitat. The quick response drew attention from nearby motorists and residents, who praised the officers for their swift and humane action.
