Alytus launches free summer film screenings and teen workshop

From July 27 to August 2, the historic Dainava cinema in Alytus will host the Scanorama summer programme, offering free daily film screenings and a week‑long youth film‑making workshop. The festival line‑up, titled “The cinema that teaches,” includes Lithuanian drama Danka starring Ula Liagaitė, Miguel Gomeso’s adventure Grand Tour and documentary Senelis, among others.

The workshop brings together filmmakers and artists—including directors Dovilė Gasiūnaitė and Gabrielė Urbonaitė, cinematographer Eitvydas Doškus, composer Agnė Matulevičiūtė and actors Greta Grinevičiūtė, Džiugas Grinys and Robertas Petraitis—to mentor teenagers in scriptwriting, directing and production. Short films created during the camp will be shown at a closing screening on August 2 at the Dainava cinema.

The events aim to introduce young audiences to film history and creation while providing free cultural entertainment for Alytus residents and visitors.
