Alytus Scanorama summer film program

Entities: Miguel Goméz · Dainava Cinema · Dovilė Gasiūnaitė · Alytus · Scanorama Summer

Overview

From July 27 to August 2, 2026, the historic Dainava cinema in Alytus hosted the Scanorama summer programme, a satellite of the European Scanorama film festival. The initiative offered free daily film screenings under the theme “Cinema that teaches,” featuring titles such as the Lithuanian drama *Danka* and Miguel Goméz’s adventure *Grand Tour*.

Alongside the screenings, a week‑long teen cinema camp was run, with workshops led by local filmmakers and artists—including directors, a cinematographer, a composer and actors. Participants received mentorship in scriptwriting, directing and production, creating short films that were premiered at a closing screening on August 2.

The combined events aimed to introduce young audiences to film history and creation while providing free cultural entertainment for residents and visitors of Alytus.
