Alzheimer Care and Dementia Education Programs Launched in Italy

An Alzheimer's Café was held on 20 June in Carmagnola, Italy, offering families, caregivers and the public insight into legal guardianship for people with neuro‑degenerative diseases. Lawyer Milena Cordero explained the role, appointment process and responsibilities of an administrator of support, covering topics such as asset management, healthcare decisions and employment matters, aiming to combine legal protection with dignified care.

In Nonantola, a project taught fifth‑grade children about dementia through games, books and visits to a local day‑care centre. The initiative, coordinated by the municipal authorities, the local health district and the volunteer association G.P. Vecchi, is part of the national Dementia Friendly Community network. Children interacted with elderly residents, learning about memory loss and spatial‑time disorientation, while the programme promoted community inclusion and awareness of dementia.
