Alzheimer Festival 2026 highlights dementia care innovation

The Alzheimer Festival 2026 took place on September 26 and 27 at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Health. The event focused on the theme of “Innovation in the prevention and management of dementia.”

Several Greek organizations participated to showcase local initiatives and support services. The Dementia Advisory Station of the Municipality of Thebes presented its work regarding early detection, cognitive empowerment, and support for caregivers. Their efforts were recognized by the Alzheimer Society of Athens.

The Larissa Dementia Day Center “NOIMA” also participated for the fifth consecutive year. The center utilized video presentations to demonstrate its non-pharmacological therapeutic interventions and its approach to treating individuals as personalities with unique histories rather than just diagnoses. The festival served as a platform for scientific information exchange, networking, and community awareness during the World Alzheimer Month.
