Mental health awareness initiatives in Greece

Overview

In late September and early October 2026, various organizations in Greece held events focused on neurological and mental health awareness.

The Alzheimer Festival 2026, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, focused on “Innovation in the prevention and management of dementia.” Participating groups, such as the Dementia Advisory Station of the Municipality of Thebes and the Larissa Dementia Day Center “NOIMA,” showcased initiatives regarding early detection, caregiver support, and non-pharmacological therapeutic interventions.

Following this, in observance of World Mental Health Day, regional services in Patras organized events to discuss mental illness openly and combat social stigma. Concurrently, the Panhellenic Physiotherapy Association hosted sessions exploring the connection between physical and mental health to promote holistic, human-centered care.
