Alzheimer’s Association holds walks and fundraising events

The Alzheimer’s Association is conducting its Walk to End Alzheimer’s initiatives across various regions. In Moore County, more than 1,200 residents participated in a walk held at Sandhills Community College, raising over $271,000. This amount surpassed the local fundraising goal of $270,000 and set a new record for the area. Top fundraising teams included Women of Fairwoods, Pinehurst Medical Clinic, and Veterans Guardian.

In Maine, the Alzheimer’s Association Maine Chapter has announced its 2026 season, which includes seven scheduled walks throughout September and October. These events feature the Promise Garden ceremony, where participants use colored flowers to signify their personal connections to the disease. The walks aim to support the estimated 29,000 people living with Alzheimer’s in Maine and their caregivers.
